Programme:
1. Theroretical training in mycelium-production
- the engineering of fermentation processes in general, and more specifically of spawn production
- sterilization: heat resistance of microorganisms and their spores, computation of the del-factor for the determination of the sterilization-time,...
- GMP for cleanrooms: air quality classes (following the US Federal Standard 209 D), generation and maintenance of good quality overpressurized air, rules of conduct inside the cleanroom department etc... The trainee will be tought how to draft a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)- manual for cleanrooms for your specific lab
2. Practical training in mycelium production
Workshop
- characteristics of raw materials
- recipes and preparation of substrates
- the use of Microsacs (“breathing” bags)
- guidelines for sterilisation
- practical utilization of steam
Cleanroom-department
- inoculation techniques
- correct and risky behavior
- controlling procedures
- cleaning techniques, incl. effectiveness of different groups of disinfectantia
3. Study of the lay out and organisation of an efficient production facility
- floor plan
- equipment for preparation of raw materials
- inoculation equipment
- bag mixing equipment
- air handling equipment
- cleanroom outfit
