Do you need gamma-irradiated vessels and covers or not? |
| In a fully automated and sterile system, the Microboxes should be gamma-irradiated (sterilised). These boxes are not re-usable. |
 |
In an autoclave-based system, the Microboxes should be non-gamma irradiated (not sterilised). |
 |
Guidelines concerning the use of the non-gamma irradiated Microbox (autoclave-based system)
|
 |
Preferable procedure: autoclave containers and medium separately, so PP-containers hold their shape and can be re-used a number of times.
- Pack stacked containers and covers separately in an autoclavable bag
- Fill containers with warm sterilised medium under LAF
- Click to close cover brims all around
- Keep containers with medium in a well-ventilated room
|
 |
Alternative procedure:
autoclave medium-filled containers. The following steps are essential in preventing the containers from either deforming or bursting.
- Fill the containers with medium
- Place lids on containers
- Press gently along ¾ of surface
- Leave one side of cover open
After sterilisation, slowly reduce the pressure in the autoclave. Immediately after emptying the autoclave, click to close the covers completely and keep the containers in a well-ventilated room.
